SCSCJA MEMBERS:
The Scholarship Committee and Executive Board of the South Carolina Summary Court Judges Association (SCSCJA) are excited to announce that we have collaborated with the National Judicial College (NJC) to offer two scholarship opportunities to members of the SCSCJA as we celebrate our 40th Anniversary and the NJC celebrates its 50th Anniversary. The National Judicial College has donated two scholarships in the amounts of $995 and $500. The SCSCJA Executive Board has agreed to supplement those scholarships by $1,000 each. We will be awarding the two scholarships (totaling $1,995 and $1,500) at our banquet at the convention on Friday, September 6, 2013. Any judge member of the SCSCJA in good standing may apply for one of the scholarships. One entry per judge. A drawing will be held at the convention and the winners will be announced at the banquet. Scholarship certificates will be presented to the winners by the President of the National Judicial College, William Dressel, and SCSCJA President, Charlie Garrett. You do not need to be present to win, but your application must be delivered to a member of the Scholarship Committee on or before Thursday, September 5, 2013 (Scholarship Committee member emails are listed below). If you mail in your application it must be post-marked by August 25, 2013. Entries not in the hands of a Scholarship Committee member before the deadline will not be considered. The winners must be able to pay for any costs not covered by the scholarships and must be able to attend a program in Reno, Nevada before August 31, 2014 or they will forfeit the scholarship to a runner up.
